D. Michael Quinn is an independent scholar in Rancho Cucamonga, California. His last academic appointment was as Beinecke Senior Fellow at Yale University, 2002–2003, when he was also Post-Doctoral Associate in its Department of History. He is the author of numerous books on Mormon history, including Early Mormonism and the Magic World View, The Mormon Hierarchy, and Elder Statesman: A Biography of J. Reuben Clark.

Michael contributed a chapter to War & Peace in Our Time: Mormon Perspectives.
